Now before I start giving you instructions on how to make this delicious mug cake I must point out that 1) I used drinking chocolate instead of cocoa powder 2) I added four tablespoons of this instead of three (whoops!) and 3) It was meant to be caramel in the middle but for my first attempt I wanted to keep it simple so opted for chocolate drops. There, now lets get baking... with a microwave ;)
You're going to need:
4 tablespoons self raising flour
4 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons drinking chocolate / cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg – beaten
3 tablespoons skimmed milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
And of course as many chocolate drops as you want, I went a bit over board but come on we all love chocolate!
Steps:
1. Into a small bowl add: flour, sugar, drinking choc/cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, egg, milk, and vegetable oil. Mix to combine.
2. Pour mixture into your favourite mug, drop chocolate drops into centre of mixture one at a time. (I just shoved them all in haha)
3. Microwave for one minute and 30 seconds. If needed put it back in for another 30 seconds if the mixture is still gooey. I did this and then it overflowed half way down my mug :D
Voila!! For my first attempt at this very easy recipe I'm pretty chuffed. I'm going to experiment with different fillings next time, so if you fancy a treat you should give this a go as it literally takes about 10 minutes.
Have you tried making these?
